2003
The Educational Journey Begins
Having had an extensive amount of experience in education, it was only a matter of time before purpose and destiny congregate. Having been part of the educational team since 2003, it was no question that I would desire to operate an educational institute today. Growing up in Grand Bahama, I convinced myself, that there was no place like home. I could never see myself leaving the island to pursue anything I knew I could receive right at home. As a result, in spite of other training I may have received, I began my education studies at Bahamas Institute of Business, formerly named Success Training College, Freeport, Grand Bahama. I later continued my studies at Terreve College, Freeport, Grand Bahama, where I have learnt that nothing in life is to be feared; instead, it is to be understood as the team, there, were the most supportive and encouraging I had ever met.

Workshops, Seminars & Special Education
Additionally, I was afforded the opportunity to attend a number of beneficial workshops under the Ministry of Education that has offered hands on experiences to educators in having to work effectively with students with learning disabilities such as autism, dyslexia and other types of common learning disabilities children face. Also, I have attended several additional educational courses that include “The Directors' Daycare and Preschool Centre's Management Course,” and also a seminar presented by REACH under the theme “Understanding Behavior & Functions of Behavior for Children on the Autism Spectrum.” These experiences helped form a new desire and a new passion to the types of students I admire working along with.
2011
A Study Hall Vision Takes Root
The initial idea of introductory to begin such a diverse educational setting all began back in 2011 during an encounter with a four-year-old boy who was placed in a K2 class. It was very emotional to see how much he lacked at age four, and to hear by his mother how other educators had given up on him. As a result, not wanting to become another discouragement to the child or the mother, and although he suffered a learning frailty, the only thing essential to work with him was a little potential — and that was all I had to work with. He went from a child who was considered inaudible and had never spoken a word in his life to someone who recited alphabets, numbers, and all the other basic necessities for communication. I then realized I not only needed but wanted a change, no longer wanting to be defined to one group of kids when, instead, I could help so many others. Therefore, I decided and began to set and support some new goals.
Today
Study Hall Academy in Freeport, Grand Bahama
A non-traditional, accommodating school where “as long as the mind works, we will work with it.”
